- Pay: $15.50 - $18.60 / hour
- This position enters and admits patients into the hospital and laboratory computers and order appropriate tests. Responds to questions and requests from Lab customers; answers telephones and direct calls as needed. Retrieves specimen, maintains files, specimen blocks and slides as needed. Logs all specimens into the computer prior to testing. Collects or monitors the collection of specimens for certain special testing, and maintains files relevant to referral service testing and hospital laboratory. Greets patients, visitors, and customers in a professional, courteous manner.
- This position works under the supervision of the Director and department lead and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
- Retrieves specimens from pneumatic tube system; verifying proper labeling and specimen integrity with documentation as needed. Logs specimens into Pathnet; delivers specimens to designated department for testing. Places specimens on hematology analyzer. Centrifuges STAT specimens when needed.
- Performs waived testing as needed. Documents quality control. Enters results into the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR).
- Performs phlebotomy as needed for outpatients. Collects specimens for paternity testing. Performs Microbiology set ups.
- Enters patient data into hospital and laboratory computers to ensure correct identification, processing, and billing. Correctly assigns ICD-10 codes to referral accounts in a timely manner (within 24 hours). Calls physician office for missing billing information or required patient demographic information in a timely manner (within 24 hours).
- Orders tests on specimens, labels specimens, and delivers specimens to departments. Communicates with physician’s offices and document any specimen issues.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- No prior experience required.
