The Moses Lake School District is seeking applications for a Middle School Counselor

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of or eligible for (ESA) Educational Staff Associate counseling certification required.
- Masters Degree with emphasis in middle school counseling.
- Experience in career and vocational counseling is preferred.
- Fluent oral Spanish or Russian preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a counseling team.
- Demonstrated successful experience working with high school age students.
- Knowledge of current high school graduation requirements for Washington State.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively communicate orally and in writing with diverse groups.
- Utilize computers and other technology in guidance and counseling.
- Working knowledge of:
- Adolescent growth and development.
- Test administration and test result interpretation to students, parent’s and others.
- Community agency and community resource use.
- Group counseling techniques.
- Multicultural education and counseling.
- Helping students with substance abuse issues.
- Intervention techniques common to school counseling.
- Special Education and Section 504 laws, regulations, handicapping conditions, and Individual Education Plans.
- College and vocational school admissions, scholarships, and financial aid forms.
- Career and vocational counseling.
- Student scheduling, master schedule building process, and registration.
- ASCA national model.
- Must have excellent attendance.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the building administration.
