PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
A quality Manager is responsible for managing and implementing the quality assurance and control systems to ensure the proper execution of products and customer satisfaction. The Quality Manager oversees quality technicians and trains them on the latest product standards.
A Quality Manager is responsible for monitoring production, and coordinating the activities of workers who are involved in inspecting materials and ensuring that they meet the quality standards specified by the company.
The Quality Manager will be responsible for leading and utilizing quality resources to follow strict adherence to quality and regulatory guidelines. Additionally, this position recommends quality resource requirements, develops, and assists in training employees to meet site quality goals and plans in support of overall corporate operation goals and plans. This position serves as the primary corporate contact for all ISO registrars and auditors.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Supervisory Responsibilities… 55%
1. Overall management of the Mossberg quality system.
2. Works with management team to develop and implement quality objectives and continuous improvement programs.
3. Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
4. Work directly with customers, suppliers, government and regulatory agencies, and Mossberg team members to effectively meet requirements.
5. Coordinates the collection and presentation of data on the effectiveness of quality systems and quality improvement programs for presentation to management.
6. Lead resources and systems for inspection, nonconforming material and corrective action processes for all products per specified procedures to ensure timely and efficient completion to meet customer requirements.
7. Lead customer and supplier corrective actions by creating, overseeing and ensuring that the corrective action plan is acted upon and followed.
8. Effectively utilize quality resources to support the development of processes, product quality plans, failure investigation and continuous improvement efforts.
9. Works with appropriate personnel to develop procedures and document processes.
10. Responsible for approving or rejecting all procedures or specifications impacting product quality.
11. Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
12. Performs quality reviews of manufacturing documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
LEAN MANUFACTURING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES… 5%
1. Execute specific Lean manufacturing techniques and designs in order to achieve a higher level of quality of products and services in the most economical manner possible
2. Develop, implement and present training on Lean’s concepts
3. Utilize Kaizen to eliminate waste by streamlining organizing and streamlining work areas and processes
4. Implement PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology to eliminate waste and improve customer value
5. Establish Lean Manufacturing teams to ensure communication and implementation of Lean ‘s philosophy and expectations
6. Track and execute cost reduction policies for process improvement
7. Develop measurement systems supporting lean manufacturing concepts
8. Lead value stream mapping exercises to determine and record improvement areas.
REGULATORY… 25%
1. Maintain all regulatory programs relevant to the operation of the company, including but not limited to, documentation, training, communications and certifications.
2. Maintain the records for the Minor Source Operating Permit
3. Maintain the records for the Hazardous Chemical Inventory (Tier ll Report)
4. Maintain the SDS Index on the network
5. Furnish data to Cornerstone Environmental for IDEM permits
6. Maintain records for hazardous waste removal
7. Maintain records for pest control
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT… 5%
1. Attend/participate in workshops, seminars, etc., or research to maintain knowledge of “state-of-the-art” developments in services/products and effective Lean processes.
COMMITTEE & GROUP FUNCTIONS… 10%
1. Plan and/or participate in the following ongoing internal committees:
· Management meetings
· Production meetings
· Audits
2. Design and present training to employees
3. Quality Steering Committee
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
1. College degree or equivalent work experience.
2. 3-5 years’ experience in a quality role within a manufacturing setting, preferably in a print environment.
3. 1-3 years’ experience in Lean processes such as 5S, Kaizen and six sigma preferred.
4. Experience with certification and regulatory compliance preferred.
B. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Must have demonstrated knowledge of quality processes, measuring and test equipment.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Must possess intermediate level of proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and contact management software. Enterprise production software experience is helpful.
Must be able to communicate clearly orally and in writing with internal staff, customers, and auditors.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
6. Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Additionally, must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
7. Adept at problem solving and root cause analysis.
8. Ability to collaborate and work well with all levels of the company.
