Delivery Driver

Job Summary:

Mother Earth Food is a family-owned, grocery home delivery service featuring local organic food from farmers and food artisans in Asheville and across Western North Carolina. We deliver 5 days a week (Tuesday - Saturday) to Asheville and surrounding areas.

We are currently seeking a part-time delivery driver* to drive Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting at 7:00 AM until route is finished (typically 8 hours minimum).

*Previous experience driving sprinter-type vans and/or box trucks is mandatory

Responsibilities:

- Safely and efficiently operate a delivery vehicle to transport goods to customers

- Utilize excellent communication skills to relay relevant route information to management as needed

- Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries

- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of items

- Provide exceptional customer service by interacting with customers in a professional and courteous manner (and communicating by phone if necessary)

- Verify the accuracy of delivery orders and obtain necessary proof of delivery if necessary

- Perform routine vehicle inspections, reporting any issues or concerns

- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the delivery vehicle

Skills:

- Experience driving various types of vehicles, especially vans and small box trucks

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written/verbal instructions

- Good time management

- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers

- Familiarity with operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment for loading and unloading cargo

- Ability to handle heavy lifting (~50 lbs) and physical demands associated with the job

- Ability to safely operate vehicle and work in various weather conditions

- Excellent navigational skills and knowledge of local routes and roadways

- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory

Experience:

- Mandatory minimum of one year driving cargo van or similar large vehicle (Sprinter vans, box trucks, etc)

- At least one year as a delivery driver strongly preferred
