You will take ownership of both the department goals and the team's efforts, allocating work, troubleshooting issues, managing schedules, and ensuring a safe and productive environment. This is a food packaging environment with incredibly high sanitization standards and an automated technology setup.
What's in it for you
Impact, leadership, and career development. You want to play a role in our vision to become a best-in-class world-class production facility focused on continuous improvement projects to reduce operational costs through increased efficiency. You will be given the opportunity to participate in various training courses and programs to further your growth and development. Everyone on the production floor has achieved some level of Lean Six Sigma, and you will be supported as you pursue your green belt and beyond.
Whether you are interested in moving up to a Production Manager role or pursuing a position on another team such as Continuous Improvement, Quality, Maintenance or Planning, you will be supported in your goals. What we do today isn't necessarily what we will do tomorrow; we want your ideas, and we want to encourage your career development. The impact of your work will be far-reaching. If you've had a cup of coffee on the go in the morning and it didn't cost you $5, it's probably been roasted and packaged by us.
What you will do:
- Oversee the work of your team. You will ensure team members have the equipment, knowledge, and protocols in place to work safely, surveying the work area and observing teams frequently throughout your shifts. You will establish production priorities and challenge the team to adhere to effective operation and customer service goals. You will coach the team, providing access to training and development.
- Drive results. You will leverage lean manufacturing principles to drive overall equipment effectiveness and eliminate waste. You will coordinate production activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance. You will implement, expect, and enforce a high level of compliance with all food safety and general occupational safety standards, quality specifications, local and governmental environmental requirements, and internal systems, including Safety, Quality, and Environment, to maintain the required certifications. You will attend all health, safety, leadership, etc., training to maintain a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment. You will ensure the facility is constantly prepared for regulatory, corporate and customer-directed inspections.
- Analyze. You will conduct safety investigations in the event of issues and implement control measures. You will review production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine the causes of nonconformity with product specifications.
What you bring to the role:
- The mindset. You strive for better. Better solutions, better efficiency, better collaboration. You have an engineering mindset and approach challenges as problems to be solved, not issues to be passed on. You take cost-control, safety, and quality incredibly seriously.
- The experience. You have 3 years of progressive experience working in a high-quality, ISO-certified consumer packaged goods or food manufacturing environment. You understand the relationship between mechanical, electrical and technical issues, and you have exposure to automated technology on the production/packaging line. You are comfortable using different software applications, including Microsoft Office and PLCs. You have on-the-job exposure in Occupational Health & Safety, Lean Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance.
- The leadership. You understand the "middle management" role and can effectively navigate the demands coming from the top-down and the difficulties coming from the bottom up. You can independently own and meet your deliverables as a collaborative team leader, coaching and inspiring high performance, quality, and efficiency. You can manage conflict, mentor individuals, coordinate schedules, and identify gaps in skills or resources.
- The interpersonal skills. You are empathetic with exceptional patience and can convey a sense of urgency. You have flexible and effective communication skills and can work closely with the production floor, operations, and administrative teams. You know how to provide concise but detailed updates during shift changes, and you are comfortable working with management.
- The flexibility. You have the flexibility to work different shifts on occasion to cover absences.

While we can't guarantee an interview, we do promise to review your resume and see if this might be a good fit for both of us.
