What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer position at Motional?
Duties: Draw on professional experience, or demonstrable skills and knowledge with C software engineering and algorithm skills in a Unix environment, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) and optimization to design, implement and improve algorithm and software used to localize our vehicles. Solve challenging localization problems. Handle localization engineering processes for maximum quality and productivity. Develop and automate localization team processes and workflow. Create tools, processes and files for software deployment. Review and adopt state of art localization. Define localization source scope and develop vendor localization kits. Develop and translate teams with localization issue feedback and determine failure patterns. Handle deliverables and new releases, test localization bugs and execute solutions or reassign, suggest functional testing and oversee tests to resolve quality issues; debug file format issues. Guide junior engineers and software engineers to implement algorithm, train and present on localization engineering and processing, provide technical leadership to make consequential decisions, and collaborate with team of algorithm experts within perception, motion planning and controls. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, robotics, or a closely related technology/engineering field plus 2 years of experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above. Alternatively, the employer will accept a master’s degree in computer science, robotics, or a closely related field combined with demonstrable ability in the skill/knowledge set described above.
