Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis and Repair: Identifying mechanical and electrical issues in motorcycles and repairing them. This involves using diagnostic tools to find the root cause of problems.
  • Routine Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and chain adjustments to ensure that motorcycles are running smoothly and safely.
  • Part Replacement: Replacing worn or damaged parts like clutch and brake levers, brakes, tires, and suspensions.
  • Customization and Upgrades: Customizing motorcycles according to specifications, which may include installing safety cages or other aftermarket parts.
  • Safety Inspections: Conducting safety inspections to ensure that motorcycles comply with safety standards.
  • Customer Service: Interacting with owners, managers and students to understand their concerns, explain the work done, and provide maintenance advice.

Qualifications

  • Technical Education: Formal training from technical or vocational schools specializing in motorcycle repair and maintenance is preferred, but not required.
  • Certification: Certifications such as Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) or similar organizations are preferred, but not required.
  • Hands-on Experience: At least 2 years of practical experience in maintaining motorcycles. This experience can be gained through apprenticeships, on-the-job training, or prior work in automotive or mechanical repair.
  • Knowledge of Different Models: An understanding of various motorcycle makes and models, including their mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical issues.
  • Physical Dexterity and Stamina: Ability to handle heavy parts and stand for long periods.
  • Tools: Provide basic tools necessary for routine motorcycle maintenance and repair.
  • Continuous Learning: Staying updated with the latest motorcycle technology and repair techniques is important, as the field is constantly evolving.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 30 per week
