The Field Service Technician will support the Field Service Organization (FSO). The FSO is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of highly technical mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.
Job tasks include but are not limited to: deployment, optimization, and repair of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwave, computers, servers and network equipment. The department works with Customers, System Managers, Engineers, Sales teams, Project Managers, System Technologists and Service Partners to accomplish the mission. The FSO department is on-call 24/7/365 to support mission critical systems for our public safety customers.Job DescriptionJob Duties:
- Maintenance and management of highly technical Motorola communications systems.
- Focus on maintaining optimal performance levels across an integrated system while taking a pro-active approach to address and mitigate system level alarms and malfunctions.
- Manage system availability through routine system maintenance, performance monitoring and system wide preventative maintenance techniques.
- To be successful in this opportunity, the FST must be familiar with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques for current model digital and analog Motorola communications equipment and system architectures.
Pre-Candidate Requirements:
- Associates degree, or technical school certification, or military training in a related field preferred.
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must have an understanding of basic electronics and electrical theory.
- Must have a good understanding of vehicle assembly, as well as vehicle electrical and mechanical systems.
- Skilled in the use of basic electronic test equipment such as DVMs, watt meters (power meters), communications systems analyzers, etc.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools associated with mobile and fixed network equipment installation.
- Able to use a computer and familiar with common computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and internet browsers.
- Self motivated and able to quickly learn new system types and technologies as they are introduced.
- Able to work as a member of a team which includes individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Skilled in the use of product specific tools and software in order to perform basic configuration and testing, both pre- and post-installation, as needed.
- Basic understanding of communications systems functionality and technology associated with the customer system(s).
Post-Candidate Requirements:
- Within six months of hire, must possess CET Associate Certification.
- Within six months of hire, must achieve appropriate technical certifications for the role (Appropriate Certification for aninstallerwould be the ETA Mobile Communications and/or ElectronicsInstallersCertification or the Emergency Vehicle Technician)
- Must possess R56InstallerCertification within the 1st year of hire.
- Training and experience in the configuration, testing, and optimization of current Motorola two-way radio subscriber equipment.
- Working overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules may sometimes be required.
- Availability to be on-call 24/7 365 day basis
- Travel estimationis 25-50% around the Bay area (San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, etc.)
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
