Reporting to the Associate Director of Advancement, the Advancement Officer – Annual Fund implements Mount Desert Island Hospital’s Annual Fund fundraising program and plays a key role in developing communications, appeals, events, and donor cultivation and stewardship efforts in support of the Annual Fund. Maintains a portfolio of donors and prospects. Manages annual solicitation and membership of Mount Desert Island Hospital’s Business Friends Society. Works collaboratively with fellow team members to support departmental strategic goals. Takes on special projects as needed; assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience required.
Experience Required:
1. 1-3 years of fundraising experience, preferred;
2. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor database management. Experience using Raiser's Edge helpful but not required.
Cognitive Requirements:
1. Superior interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to write with accuracy and clarity. Experience writing direct mail appeals and other donor communications required.
2. Must be organized and able to manage multiple projects and priorities
3. Discretion and ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of donor records and financial information.
4. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and open communication.
5. Mission driven, results-oriented and creative.
Physical Demands:
1. Able to sit, stand and walk moderate distances.
2. Has adequate hearing, vision, speech and manual dexterity to communicate with staff and donors and to complete daily tasks.
3. Minimal light lifting
Environment:
1. Requires use of telephone and VDT.
