What are the responsibilities and job description for the Show Groom position at Mount Fair Equine?
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Show Groom (Manager) to join our team. As a Show Groom (Manager), you will be responsible of the care and maintenance of the show horses at home, as well as transporting the horses to the show and setting up the stalls and preparing the horses for the show ring. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail and excellent horse handling skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for show horses, including feeding, grooming, and exercising (when need arises).
- Turn-out and clean stalls, ensuring a clean and safe environment
- Working with the Barn Manager to ensure all show horses are up to date with the vet and farrier, thus having the horses well presented and ready for the shows
- Setting up and breaking down the show setup
- Packing and unpacking the show trailers and cleaning all show materials between shows in order to present a clean and neat setup at each show
- Keeping the truck and trailers clean, and up to date on their inspections and maintenance
- Help the Barn Manager at home with keeping all aspects of the barn clean, disinfected and tidy at all times
- Make sure all the show tack and show blankets are in order and ready for the next show
- Experience in show preparation is a necessity: trailering, horse show set up and horse preparation a must.
