Program Description: Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is looking to hire veterinarians to join our rapidly growing team as behavioral medicine clinicians. To meet the needs of the behavior college, this unique opportunity is available to internship trained graduates or veterinarians with at least one year of clinical practice. This position will provide the candidate with dual training: clinical behavioral medicine and behavioral medicine hospitalist, with mentors provided for both roles. The candidate will work in conjunction with our behavior team to submit an individual behavior residency training program within 3-6 months of starting this position for official acceptance by the behavior college. The candidate will earn 3x times the salary of a academically trained behavioral medicine resident. There are significant investments in training and development on behalf of the employer, so continued employment for 3 years following completion of the residency is required by the employer.
Skills & Qualifications: Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree, have completed an internship or two years of clinical practice and be licensed in the state of NJ (or eligible for licensure). The ideal candidate is highly motivated, organized, and friendly. Responsibilities of Behavioral Medicine Resident: Behavioral medicine residents will be expected to complete an individual behavior residency training program, provide handling assistance and behavior training to hospital staff and the referring veterinary community and work with the other services in the hospital to provide behavioral support for their patients. The individual behavior residency training program requires the resident accomplish a supervised behavioral caseload of at least 400 cases. The first 25 clinical cases will be seen with the mentor present, 25 of the next 50 cases are seen under the direct supervision of the mentor and close supervision is required for all 400 cases. It is expected these 400 cases will be seen within 3 years. Behavioral medicine hospitalist training requires the resident have a strong clinical interest and will involve on the floor training for behavioral management in hospitalized patients who are actively being treated/managed for concurrent emergent medical conditions.
