Evaluation Period: Annual performance evaluations if the student works the entire academic year. If the student works one semester, the performance evaluation will be completed after that semester.
Purpose: The cITe IT Interns are responsible for assisting Bayley staff and residents with any technology needs. All cITe IT Interns will assist patrons on-site at the Bayley Help Desk and provide front-line assistance in resolving patrons technological issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting with opening and closing the Bayley Help Desk.
- Responding to Help Desk calls and support requests.
- Handling Level 1 technical questions & requests and escalating issues to Level 2 staff as needed.
- Training of other cITe IT Interns as needed. Training and support of Help Desk patrons in basic computer software/hardware operation.
- Pushing/pulling equipment on carts, bending, carrying equipment upstairs, familiarity with, or technical aptitude to learn operation and support of media, computer equipment, and software.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled student at Mount St. Joseph University.
- Ability to work on own initiative, independently, and to deadlines.
- Ability to work efficiently with others.
- Well organized, punctual, and reliable.
- The ability to communicate sensitively and tactfully, both orally and in writing, with individuals at all levels within and outside of the University. Experience in areas indicated above plus other qualifications and requirements necessary for the completion of duties.
- Initial knowledge of computing technology (notebook and tower computers) preferred.
- Willingness to learn new processes and techniques required for the position.
- Demonstrate verbal communication skills required for interaction with Bayley Help Desk patrons.
- Open availability and willingness to work all assigned shifts (including during academic breaks is preferred).
- Gather information, clarify facts and details, and coordinate work with other student workers and MSJ staff members to ensure patrons technology needs are supported.
