What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Nursing (DON) Behavioral Health position at Mountain Manor?
Maryland Treatment Centers is hiring a Director of nursing to organize and oversee all nursing operations of the facility located in Sykesville, MD. Our facilities specialize in addiction & co-occurring treatment services in the residential setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working in behavioral healthcare, specifically in addiction treatment services.
Responsibilities include:
- Review on a daily basis all nursing staff duties involving direct and indirect patient care.
- Provides continuing supervision and oversight to all nursing staff and medical technicians and completes timely performance appraisals.
- Develops and maintains nursing service objectives and standards of nursing care by arranging in-service education programs and conducting ongoing staff meetings.
- Participates in recruitment and selection of all nursing personnel. Provides appropriate training and competency for all new hires.
- Staffing coverage as required by COMAR. Resolve issues and deficiencies when needed
- Delivers nursing services in manner consistent with the Chronic Disease Model of Addiction Treatment.
- Coordinates nursing services with all ancillary services to maintain quality patient care. Develop and enforce policies aiming for legal compliance and high quality standards
- Works directly with Medical Director and medical staff in evaluation of patients presenting medical/psychiatric concerns upon application for admission or while in treatment.
- Responsible for updating medical staff on policies and procedures regarding delivery of care to patients.
- Provides medical evaluation for all patients discharged and, as appropriate, gives patient direction and information for medical follow-up care.
- Acts as liaison with various programs and resources in the region. Arranges appropriate follow-up care for patients.
- Responsible for implementing lectures to the patient community regarding various medical topics.
- Orders and initiates requisitions for all nursing/medical supplies, keeping to fixed budget guidelines.
- Serves on the Professional Staff Organization Quality Improvement, Utilization Review, Fire and Safety and Infection Control Committees as required'
- Collaborate with other departments and professionals to streamline operations
