What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at Mountain View Cares?

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Director of Nursing in determining the staffing needs of the nursing department and to ensure that the required number and type of nursing personnel are available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Functions

· Review the staffing budgeted patterns of the nursing department. Review staffing model.

· Maintain a daily staffing pattern consistent with budgeted LHPPD.

· Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Director of Nursing.

· Receive schedules from RN Team Leaders and LPN Medication Managers who self-schedule and integrate into the staffing schedule for the entire department.

· Review the finalized staffing schedule with the DON and post the schedule in a location available to all.

· Assist the DON in preparing staffing reports from scheduling and time and attendance software.

· Notify the DON when adequate staff is not available to meet resident care needs.

· Ensure that daily staffing and census is posted per state regulations.

Personnel Functions

· Ensure that a sufficient number of CNAs are available at all times to ensure that quality nursing care is provided.

· Ensure that all nurse aide students perform under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse from the education entity.

· Assist the DON to monitor attendance by maintaining the log of absenteeism and tardiness.

· Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.

· Assist the DON to ensure that all nursing service personnel follow personnel including appropriate dress and use of name badges.

Staff Development Functions

· Notify the Nurse Educator when new associates are hired and available for orientation.

· Ensure that all new nursing personnel are oriented to the facility, consistent with policy and procedures, prior to being assigned to the unit.

· Provide suggestions for orientation in-service and training, based on feedback from nursing associates.

· Attend continuing education programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as maintain your license/certification on a current status.

Resident Rights Responsibilities

· Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.

· Treat all residents fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect.

· Knock before entering a resident’s room.

· Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.

· Report all complaints made by residents to the RN Team Leader.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education

· Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.

· Current certification as a nurse assistant is preferred.

Experience

· Must have a working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Scheduling and staffing experience is helpful.

· Industry specific time and attendance tracking software as well as scheduling software is a plus.

· Must possess the ability to solve problems and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

· Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agency personnel and the general public.

· Must possess the ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.

· Must have patience, tact, a positive disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult people.

· Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

· Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

· Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.

· Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

· Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

· Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.

· Must meet the general health requirement set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.

· Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at time hostile people within the facility.

· Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of five (5) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of five (5) feet.

· Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

· Sitting: 1 hour per 8-hour shift. Alternates frequently to standing or walking.

· Standing: 1-2 hours per 8-hour shift. Alternates frequently to walking and occasionally to sitting.

· Walking: 5-6 hours per 8 hour shift. Alternates frequently to standing and occasionally to sitting.

· Lifting: 1-10 lbs. Continuously

11-20 lbs. Continuously

21-75 lbs. Frequently

> 75 lbs. Frequently

· Carrying: 1-10 lbs. Continuously

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
