Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Customer Service Supervisor to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs all duties related to the collection of accounts receivable. Establishes payment arrangements with patients in order to collect on accounts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collects delinquent accounts, establishes payment arrangements with patients, and follows up to ensure that delinquent accounts are being paid.
  2. Evaluates unpaid accounts. Works with collection agency and small-claims court action accounts.
  3. Handles all bankruptcy accounts.
  4. Sets up all payment arrangement on accounts and monitors them to make sure they are paying as agreed.
  5. Works on payment arrangements with self-paying accounts that are overdue. Types and mails collection letters and review accounts on a scheduled basis. Telephones those who do not respond to letters. Records all transactions on account.
  6. Records payments received on account and notifies collection agency of amounts received.
  7. Prepares bad debt report to send to outside agency.
  8. Handles all medical liens.
  9. Handles all patient financial applications on patient applying for hospital assistance; mails approval or denial letters.
  10. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  11. Must maintain accurate time clock punches, punch in and out according to hospital policy.
  12. Participates in educational programs. In-service meetings and completes annual educational requirements.
  13. Must maintain a professional attitude at all times.
  14. Attends all other meetings as required.
  15. Trains all new employee’s and handles all scheduling and personnel issues with the guidance and involvement of human resources.
  16. Acts like an owner; pulls own weight; works to achieve individual, department, and hospital goals; fully accountable owns problem until solved; appropriately holds others accountable.
  17. Evaluates office production, revises procedures, or devises new forms to improve efficiency of work flow.
  18. Reviews clerical and personnel records to insure completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
  19. Prepares activities reports and performs random quality assurance assessment of recorded phone calls for guidance for employees.
  20. Interviews, hires and trains employees.
  21. Plans, assigns and directs works, appraises performance and rewards or disciplines accordingly, addressing complaints and problems as they arise.

Qualifications


Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent GED. AA or equivalent from a two year college or technical school; Behavioral science, human relations, medical terminology business. Knowledge of the collection practices and an understanding of the Fair Debt and Collection Act would be helpful.

 

Experience: Two years of medical staff office work can be substituted for education requirement.

 

Equipment/Technology: Strong computer skills a must.

 

Language/Communication: Strong communication skills needed. Public speaking experience and or demonstrate ability to interpret legal documents and court decisions when necessary.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Mental Capabilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
