Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Physician Assistant to join our team!

Medical provider. Evaluate and treat Gastroenterology related issues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Evaluate and treat patients with gastroenterology related illnesses, including follow-up and post-hospital follow up treatment. Requesting referrals when appropriate.
    2. Evaluate and provide appropriate stabilization for patients with acute serious medical conditions or injuries and facilitate transfer as appropriate to an emergency facility or hospital.
    3. Manage the patient’s care in a timely manner and maintain a level of productivity that is equivalent to the other providers on staff.
    4. Interact with office, laboratory, radiology, and nursing/clinical staff as part of the patient care process.
    5. Thoroughly and accurately document every patient encounter.
    6. Complete all required documentation in a timely manner that is compliant with the “Documentation and Handling of Incomplete and Delinquent Medical Records” policy outlined in Policy Stat. Daily treatment notes need to be completed on the day of each treatment, other assessment and evaluation notes are to be completed within 24 hours of the provider’s order to prevent delay in prior-authorization services, billing, etc.
    7. Able to complete required and completed documentation in correspondence with evaluation and treatment of patients within a 40 hour per week period, unless approved otherwise by manager.
    8. Perform required quality assurance steps in the patient care process.
    9. Interpret laboratory, radiology, EKG and other basic tests.
    10. Bill appropriately for each patient care visit.
    10. Respond to requests from the hospital QMP (qualified medical personnel), via telephone or in person as appropriate, for management of hospital walk-in patients.
    11. Respond as appropriate to any activation of a local or state wide Disaster Code or Multicasualty Incident (MSI).
    12. Handle all patient evaluations and transfers in compliance with federal EMTALA Regulations.
    13. Interface, as appropriate and necessary, with providers and medical personnel within and outside of Mountain View Hospital whenever necessary to ensure good patient care.
    14. Takes initiative to create his/her own reference manual in relation to gastroenterology care-related inquiries discussed with other providers and/or staff. Refers back to reference manual as necessary.
    15. Serve as the Team Leader for assigned shift if he/she is the most medically qualified personnel. This may involve supervising or providing back up to other Physician’s Assistants.
    16. Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications


Education/Certification:  Licensed Physician Assistant. Maintain current Idaho licensure, Federal DEA and IBOP certifications. Complete adequate CME as required by licensure. Maintain current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

 

Experience:  At least two years’ experience working independently in a primary care, or emergency care setting evaluating and treating a broad range of patients preferred in terms of age (infants to elderly), medically compliant and acuity level (routine, urgent and emergent).

 

Equipment/Technology:  Routine physical assessment tools.

 

Language/Communication: Communicate well with staff, patients, family members, and consultants. Second language fluency is an asset.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Basic math skills necessary to calculate medication dosages, etc.

 

Mental Capabilities:   High level of diagnostic thinking, often rapid. Must be able to perform multi-tasking with frequent interruptions. Must be capable of on-the-spot problem-solving. Strong knowledge of up-to-date clinical information. Must be flexible

 

Performance: Must be able to work efficiently and comply with daily demands. Works well under pressure and able to meet multiple and competing deadlines, some specifically relating to documentation in the medical record. Able to work as part of a team of clinical providers who share responsibility for the patients’ well-being and the clinics’ operations. Understands the requirements of being a department of a hospital and complies with that level of quality.
