What are the responsibilities and job description for the PreK Classroom Assistant position at Mountain Views Supervisory Union (School District)?
Our district seeks an individual to join an amazing PreK team where full day, free public PreK is offered to all district residents. We aim for classes of up to 15 students with a teacher and aide.
This position is responsible for working closely with three and four year old prekindergarten children, possibly in multiple classrooms, on a daily basis to provide them with the physical, social, and emotional supports they need to develop and grow as students. The school day is 7.5 hours long.
DUTIES:
Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
Prepare classroom materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment and demonstrations as needed.
Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher.
Establish a trusting, supportive, and nurturing relationship with the students
Supervise students in classroom, hall, playground, gymnasium, outdoor classroom, or on field trips.
Enforce positive behavior interventions and supports.
Assist students with developing independence in self-care, hygiene, settling down for rest time, and eating snack and lunch.
Participate in at least 15 hours of professional development annually as required by the State of Vermont childcare licensing regulations.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Annual early childhood professional development and CPR and First Aid training.
