Responsibilities:
- Pack multiple items into various boxes and prepare shipment paperwork for transport (Room-temp, refrigerated, dry ice, hazardous, specialty).
- Verify items picked match customer order (catalogue number, lot number, expiry date and quantity).
- Palletize, label, weigh, wrap packed boxes in preparation for shipment.
- Use computer programs to create packing slips, commercial invoices, SLIs, manifests, and shipping labels.
- Arrange pick-up with freight forwarders and carriers.
- Load shipments onto trailers/containers in a secure manner.
- Maintain and organize shipping supplies.
- Move materials using forklift & pallet jack - requires ability to work with heavy loads using these machines in a safe manner.
- Prepare shipping paperwork and associated documents (hazard paperwork and commercial invoices), ensure proper carrier and routing selection for shipment.
- Use computer workstation, scanner, and copier to prepare and maintain shipping manifests, shipping labels, shipping records, correspond with shipping companies, co-workers, and customers.
- Backup for other shipping roles (domestic & international).
- Backup for inventory control roles (stock picking & put away).
- Package metering for FedEx, UPS, DHL, domestic and foreign.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate for GED required
- Hazardous material training (DOT/IATA strongly preferred.
- 2 years’ experience in a comparable role required, preferably with a chemical company
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds routinely
- Demonstrated computer skills, including intermediate Word and Excel
- Powered Industrial Lift Truck certification/license.
- Some weekend and overtime.
- Experience working with FedEx, UPS and LTL carriers.
