Our employees will lead this exciting transformation and grow professionally with us.The Director, Supply Chain will be located in Mountain Pass, CA and member of the Supply Chain Leadership team, in addition to acting as Functional Lead for the Site and the main point of contact with local Leadership team. Responsible for all Procurement & Warehouse activities within the facility, including the effective management of all third party spend across several areas (e.g., materials, equipment, process consumables, contractor services, and indirect expenditures). The primary responsibility will be to optimize spend, minimize supply risk and create value in support of Maintenance, Operations, and Capital Projects. This position will provide leadership to the local supply chain team, develop capability, and promote operational efficiency and effectiveness in Supply Chain through data driven metrics and KPIs in line with safe and reliable operations at Mountain Pass (Site).The Director will collaborate with Corporate and cross-segment (MP Magnetics) to assist with implementation of standardized practices, maintaining direct accountability for local operational supply chain activities and overall success at the Site. This role will report to the SVP, Supply Chain and will be accountable to deliver savings and maximize value though different initiatives (e.g.: cost reduction, avoidance, minimize loss profit, etc.). Position Responsibilities:
  • Drive the Supply Chain strategy and execution plan in collaboration with (and in support of) local Site strategy, securing buy-in from key stakeholders across the Business and the Function.
  • Establish effective Supply Chain processes, while appropriately challenging third party spend arrangements and contracts in order to deliver value and optimize Site operating costs.
  • Build and nurture effective relationships with senior leadership at the Plant (stakeholders in Operations, Maintenance, and Projects) and with external suppliers and contractors, influencing as appropriate to gain necessary alignment. Participate in cross-functional meetings as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and Corporate Supply Chain teams to review spend and to develop and implement annual sourcing & procurement plans for the Site.
  • Champion use of MP Materials’ Supply Chain processes, chosen tools and methodologies including execution of strategic sourcing events, buying channels, material management practices, etc.
  • Lead or participate as required in negotiations and ensure efficient deployment of agreed supply arrangements to deliver step-change in contractor’s productivity and cost competitiveness.
  • Drive improvement in effectiveness and efficiency of transactional procurement and materials management process, including necessary systems and controls, to ensure seamless operation of purchase-to-pay processes and warehouse operations across the Site.
  • Act as coach and mentor to the local Supply Chain team to ensure capability development and succession planning, creating a high-performing culture with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Champion Safety within Supply Chain Operations teams, and with contractors supporting the Site, through rigorous sourcing, contracting and supplier management activities.
  • Participate in supplier performance management activities, ensuring accuracy of reporting, reviewing performance with Site leadership and leading performance interventions as required. Manage key local supplier relationships as appropriate.


SALARY/PAY-The expected pay rate is $150,000-$185,000. The actual pay rate offered may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills, and/or location.

Required Experience:
  • Preferred 10 years overall work experience as follows (experience may overlap):
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as Manager for a department or area of delivery.
    • Minimum of 5 years procurement, supply chain, commercial, contract development or contract management experience required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operational Procurement, with understanding of P2P and overall Procurement Process.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environment required.
Required Education/Certification/Licensure:
  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or related discipline required
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) preferred.
Specialized Skills:
  • Strong sourcing and contracting skills with in-depth understanding of the various contract T&Cs, with ability to validate scope, indemnities, liabilities, etc.
  • Good influencing, negotiation and analytical skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • A strong collaborator across the business, Supply Chain and other support Functions.
  • Makes decisions with good judgment, taking responsibility for delivery of results.
  • Is a Change Champion: Has courage to lead change. Takes a broad business perspective and is willing to speak up. Stimulates new thinking in a positive and non-threatening fashion.
  • Applies strong personal integrity and has a high service orientation.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data for use in decision-making and in support of business strategy.
  • Extensive experience in SAP, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Office.
  • Can deal with ambiguity, showing strong self-confidence and determination
