JOB OVERVIEW

The Category Analyst Intern will assist Category and Sales Managers with their reporting and sales storytelling to drive the business forward through data driven decisions. Providing direct support to the team through sales analysis, trend analysis, general reporting, category dynamics & consumer behavior. Serve as an analytic and category management expert using the category management process as a decision platform for all initiatives designed to optimize category performance at the customer(s)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver customer service to Vendors by managing details of programs and daily maintenance
  • New Item set up
  • Nielsen/IRI training
  • UPC ranking
  • Promo set up
  • Participation in category reviews
  • Sales Recaps and Trend Analysis- weekly recaps and preparation for meetings
  • Collaborative forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing new items, TPC’s or special events   
  • Build strong relationships with vendor
  • Consistent, strong professional communication
  • Collaborate with Director or Manager of Sales on all aspects of the business
  • Item set up and maintenance
  • Manage Expectations: interpret goals of all parties and translate into cohesive collaboration
  • Be solutions driven and create various contingency plans for options
  • Manage insights, analysis and logistics of sales and inventory to Vendors, Target, and internal Market Performance team  
  • Sales Recaps and Trend Analysis- weekly recaps and preparation for meetings
  • Item set up and maintenance

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

  • Some college experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office programs with an emphasis in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective and efficient project management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, & keep projects moving
  • Knowledge of consumer products industry & category, brand, & retail strategies
  • Ability to listen, understand, & resolve competing priorities
  • Ability to create and maintain strong relationships
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Strategic thinker with proven analytical skills who can manage multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to problem solve and exhibit a positive attitude while dealing with challenges

VACCINATION STATUS
