What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at MPP?
Job Summary:
Responsible for receiving of mix into QAD, delivering raw material to presses, moving parts through plant as needed to various departments and moving finished goods in and out of inventory as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Weighing powder going to and coming from presses.
- Scan material to and from presses.
- Cleaning barrels for presses, powder dumper and bulk packs for dumping powder.
- Dumping powder for each press.
- Making tags so they can read from floor for presses that take hoppers.
- Taking powder to presses and putting up hoppers.
- Assist in keeping accurate records of new bulk pack numbers or lot changes on log sheets.
- Tag incoming powder after check in and put on racks in an orderly fashion.
- Weight and record scrap tailings.
- Keeping empty skids, cardboard and bins organized.
- Empty green part carts and keep them organized.
- Get full bulk packs of scrap and tailings ready to ship out or move them to another location until ready to be shipped out.
- Keep each individual mix with its corresponding bulk pack (scrap, tailings).
- Loading and unloading truck which include skids of parts, scrap and tailings, drums of oil and other incoming items. Responsible for proper paperwork.
- Sweeping and cleaning of powder area.
- Stacking and unloading of empty bulk packs – removing bags and clean prior to sending to backend of factory for use in packing product or part dunnage.
- Draining powder out of hoppers when they come back from presses and keep organized.
- Put away any powder that comes back from press in barrels whether it is under rack or on skids on racks.
- Keep paperwork on skids of barrels correctly marked.
- Help pull die sets, core rods, etc. Using forklift as needed.
- Determine how much mix is needed at press at a certain time.
- Organize skids and determine which ones are no longer able to be used.
- Organize barrels and determine which ones are no longer to be used.
- Safety and maintenance checklist of the forklift.
- Assist with the inventory process of all powder and tailings on monthly basis, this includes monthly powder physical inventories and requested powder cycle counts.
- Check powder for any contamination and screening if needed.
- Locating and preparing any sample mixes for presses.
- Moving product from one stage to another as requested by various departments.
- Move product in and out of finished goods as needed.
- Keep material storage areas neat and organized.
- Assist with plant inventory process as needed and as requested.
- Loading and unloading trucks.
- Perform any duties as assigned by supervisor.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe manor.
- Report all work-related accidents/incidents to supervisor no matter how minor.
- Follow fire, safety policies and procedures and established smoking regulations (report all violations).
- Place orders for necessary equipment/supplies; ensure supplies are used in efficient manner to avoid waste.
- Wear personal protection equipment in required specific areas including, but not limited to safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, gloves and respirators.
- Perform specific tasks and assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures and as instructed by supervisor(s).
- Notify supervisor(s)according to procedures when you will be late or absent from work.
- File complaints with supervisor(s) according to procedures.
- Display a personal appearance that is clean, neat, professional, and appropriate to the job.
- Demonstrate support of the mission and values of MPP.
Skills Executed: Communication, multi-tasking, ability to understand and follow directions.
Education: High School Graduate / GED
Safety Requirements: When required in specific areas. This includes, but is not limited to safety glasses, with side shields, hearing protection, and gloves.
