General
MPR is seeking Electrical Power Engineers for full-time positions at our Alexandria, Virginia, East Lyme, Connecticut, and Burlington, Massachusetts offices. MPR engineers bring their energy, passion, and natural curiosity to help solve unique and challenging problems for clients spanning the utility, commercial power, and federal services industries. Successful candidates will contribute to and lead projects involving all manner of design, analysis, specification, test, modification, and failure investigation of power systems and equipment. MPR engineers engage on a variety of projects associated with a diverse set of industries to include distributed energy resources, renewable energy sources, commercial nuclear, new nuclear (fusion / fission), grid modernization, transmission and distribution facilities, transmission system substations, and petrochemical and steel facilities.

Duties/Responsibilities
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth understanding of electricity, magnetism, and three-phase power system fundamentals
- Strong analytical skills
- Desire and capacity to simultaneously work multiple dimensions of multiple projects
- Ability to multi-task across teams of engineers and managers on various projects
- Ability to engage with clients in a professional manner
Proficiency with the following considered a plus:
- Mathworks MATLAB-Simulink® modeling
- OTI ETAP, EDSA, or SKM Power Tools and experience performing short circuit, load flow, voltage drop, motor starting, and transient stability analyses
- EMTP/ATP
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science, Electrical Engineering (MSEE) degree from an ABET-accredited university
Experience
- Up to five years of relevant internships, co-operative education work assignments, or industry work experience
- Working knowledge of the design and analysis of electric power equipment including power transformers, motors, and generators
- EIT and/or Professional Engineer's license (or desire to obtain a PE in the near term)
- Familiarity with industry design standards, codes, and regulations
Qualifications
- This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Travel
- As required by project assignments. Estimated is 10% - 20%.
