Position Summary:
A CDL driver transports goods between locations using tractor trailers and heavy trucks. Position requires frequent travel of short, intermediate, and long distances to deliver loads as required and scheduled. Drivers must adhere to all traffic and safety regulations while making deliveries in a timely manner. A CDL Driver must be organized, detailed oriented, and comfortable working independently. A clean driving record and commercial driving experience is a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive assigned vehicle
- Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Pick-up and safely transport goods to the intended destination
- Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck to prevent damage/injury
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries
- Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery
- Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the manifest document
- Perform inspections of vehicle prior to and following each trip
- Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
- Always ensure vehicle is kept clean
- Maintenance and service is completed by on site mechanic (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
- Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
- Adhere to company safety and bio-security rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
- Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required
- Two plus years of proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred
- Clean driving record with no moving violations
- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
- Map reading and route planning experience
- Self-starter who works well independently
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
- Reliable and dependable work ethic
- Able to follow spoken and written instructions in English

The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires the strict daily adherence to established biosecurity processes and procedures before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear coverings are provided by the Company. All employees are required to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
