Position Summary: Feed Mill Operator
Primary duties to include the manufacturing of poultry feed and all related duties and responsibilities. Additional duties to include loading/unloading trucks, grounds and equipment maintenance, warehouse maintenance, and other related feed production duties, forklift operation and grain handling. Operate scales for inbound and outbound trucks. Perform basic preventative maintenance, including housekeeping items. Understanding feed ingredients and proper handling techniques.
The Feed Mill Operator is trained to tend, operate, and oversee all of the operator areas within the mill (i.e., receiving, batching, loadout, etc.) to assure compliance with established procedures relative to quality, productivity and safety.
Core Responsibilities:
- Operates all equipment/tools (computer, grinders, tools, fork lift, etc.) in all areas
- Distributes feed directly to a feed truck
- Properly completes necessary paperwork and records as required
- Regulates the flow of materials and observes flow to ensure attainment of specified products
- Performs daily feed, bulk, and micro ingredient inventory
- Performs housekeeping duties as requested by the supervisor
- Responsible for keeping designated area clean while supporting co-workers in other areas
- Maintains and ensures the safety of all employees and assets of the company
- Responsible for filling micro-ingredients, tote system, and maintaining necessary stock at the batching areas and receiving when needed
- Follow all company rules and regulations for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety
- Work productively in a team environment or independently and assist in any areas or operations as assigned
- Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations of the mill
- Attend meetings, training, and educational classes as required

Job Requirements
- Able to follow spoken and written instructions in English
- Reliable and dependable work ethic
- Ability to recognize critical areas of the mill control feed/ingredient system
- Some previous general Feed Mill operations and Feed Mill procedures experience preferred
- Able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends, holidays, and extended hours
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The work environment characteristics & physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is based in a fast-paced agricultural setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Must be able to tolerate extreme ranges of seasonal temperatures (hot to cold)
- Must be able to tolerate grain dust, chemical odors, heights, and frequently noisy conditions
- Will work in wet and/or humid conditions, and around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and cold

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare
The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires the strict daily adherence to established biosecurity processes and procedures before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear coverings are provided by the Company. All employees are required to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). All employees are required to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
