What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at MPX-SFX?
MPX is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing organization in Portland, Maine. The successful candidate will be an experienced and detailed professional who loves to work at a company full of smart, driven people who will push you to deliver your best work every day. The Staff Accountant will also be results oriented and naturally curious to investigate and resolve all discrepancies and tenacious on reconciling to zero. They will be responsible for accurate and timely processing and analysis of financial transactions; and compiling the information to produce monthly and year-end financial reports that reflect the financial status of the affiliated organizations.
Position Priorities

- Process and reconcile all facets of accounts receivable including daily bank reconciliations, posting of client payments, addressing discrepancies with the Accounting Manager and new client set up process.
- Participate in all functions of accounts payable including invoice entry, payment runs and regular reconciliation of corporate credit accounts, resolve vendor issues, verify all activity to audit control sheets.
- Provide client billing support during month end and other times as required.
- Process bi-weekly payroll ensuring the highest degree of accuracy.
- Support Accounting Manager with miscellaneous tasks and projects as needed.
Successful Candidate Requirements
- 3 years' experience in general accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation and payroll.
- Solid competence in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to collaborate with colleagues in a fast-paced environment and personal commitment to excellence.
- Willingness to adapt and implement changes on the fly
- Strong attention to detail and reconciliation aptitude.
- Natural curiosity and propensity to ask probing questions.
- Creative problem solver, with ability to manage multiple priorities, and communicate well with colleagues and vendors.
- Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
