Rock Energy Cooperative, an MRA Member, is looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager who has experience with Electrical Power Distribution to be a leader on our Operations team. This position will require on-site work in our Janesville, WI and South Beloit, IL offices, as well as some travel to member locations as business needs require. POSITION OVERVIEW
Hands-on, electrical engineering position with direct supervision of one employee.
Plan, design, inspect, and develop activities and programs that impact the safety and reliability of the Cooperative’s distribution system. duties are to be conducted in an effective, efficient and professional manner consistent with established policies, budget parameters, and business objectives.
Develops the Construction Work Plan, and Long-Range Load Forecast
Provides support to the CEO, Operations, and Line crews.
Supports and models teamwork and dedication to the cooperative.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs system design for new loads, system upgrades, load balancing and other essential engineering functions.
Directs the work of the Distributed Generation Technician
Coordinates all facets of the cooperative’s substation maintenance program.
Works with Operation Managers on annual construction work plan and maintenance activities
Oversees the operation, maintenance, and analytics of Cooperative’s dual-fuel generator.
Works with consultants retained by the Cooperative to conduct studies and facility designs.
Recommends and implements new or improved engineering standards, practices or methods.
Working with CEO, Operations, and IT, to research and evaluate emerging technology for potential implementation.
Responsible for working with other utilities on joint pole attachment issues and approving joint pole attachment applications.
Assists in the development of distribution switching orders and facilitates their implementation.
Interviews members, contractors, and others both in the office and the field for new facilities requested or alterations to existing plants.
Attends meetings and seminars to facilitate training, keep informed and stay abreast with current industry trends. This may require occasional travel from the area.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required;
Five (5) years as an electrical engineer with distribution utility design experience using National Electric Safety Code design criteria.
Working experience with RUS specifications, NESC, and OSHA Rules and Regulations.
State of Wisconsin and/or Illinois licensed Professional Engineer required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Excellent Computer skills.
Skills in developing plans, procedures, and goals required.
Demonstrated leadership; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven analytical, spreadsheet, and word processing skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to a wide range of audiences with the outcome of clear understanding with the use of respect and compassion toward those you are influencing.
