The CDS Accounting Coordinator is responsible for leading the accounting team in understanding and implementing payroll and billing processes required for the Client Directed Services (CDS) program. The individual in this position assists to maintain a strong customer-focused culture, ensures that timesheets are processed correctly, and issues related to processing and billing are resolved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews, revises and develops policies, procedures and efficiencies for payroll and billing processing.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the accounting team responsible for payroll processing and billing to ensure efficient, accurate and timely processing.
- Ensures each timesheet is processed accurately and free from errors with appropriate approvals and signatures.
- Oversees timesheet issue identification and resolution.
- Assists in the resolution of billing issues, including communication of issues to appropriate parties, as needed.
- Completes SEIU Bi-Weekly Payroll Report for hours, rates & PTO.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MRCI's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Works with minimal supervision and makes decisions based on an understanding of the programs administered to by CDS, of DHS rules and regulation and of county guidelines for financial management of federal, state and county funds.
- Recognizes that customer service and customer satisfaction is an integral part of the CDS program, and promotes systems that assure appropriate and timely service, and maintains a strong customer-focused culture.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Assists CDS Controller on special projects, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience

A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, plus at least three years of accounting experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong writing, reading and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Strong problem solving and reasoning skills.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Proficient in computer-based office software, including Word and Excel, excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrate ability to lead a team to achieve goals and objectives.
- A valid Driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel throughout Minnesota.
- Clear a MN Department of Human Services background check and physical exam to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical demands of the job.
