What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at MRNA - Marine?
Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. The Staff Accountant will provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; prepare financial statements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Division Controller with the daily, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting Department including month-end closing, forecast, budget review, and analysis.
- Collect, compile, and record simple financial and statistical data in the preparation of accounting statements for senior management
- Prepare actual vs. plan (budget) analysis related to manufacturing costs, material re-evaluations, and expense information as needed for decision-making support.
- Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in a worldwide SAP system.
- Develop and analyze cost standards
- Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer benefit costs, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, interim financial reporting, and Quarter End & Year-End Packages.
- Assist in the preparation of basic reports, including P & L statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, etc.
- Support other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines to accurately maintain the general ledger, financial records, and transactions in line with GAAP.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 2-5 years of Cost Accounting experience.
- 2 to 5 years of general accounting experience
- Experience with SAP/Oracle or similar systems is desirable
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Accounting, and ERP software.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
