Job Summary
The Drafter/Engineer position produces shop drawings for customer approval and fabrication. This critical position works closely with all departments (project management, machining, and fabrication) to ensure high-quality and cost-effective products are delivered on time.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the design team, project managers and clients to understand project specifications and requirements.
- Interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to create accurate drafts and provide value-engineering insights.
- Use Inventor, Woodwork for Inventor, or other drafting software to create precise and detailed millwork plans.
- Develop unique and functional millwork solutions incorporating cabinetry, casework, fixtures, wall system products and other architectural elements as may be required.
- Work with management to identify and implement continuous improvement ideas.
- Work with project and production management to ensure projects are completed on time and within cost constraints.
- Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist in developing written processes and procedures for engineering department.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in millwork design and engineering.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s or an associate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design and Drafting, Woodworking, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience in the architectural, woodworking and/or millwork industry including experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficient in Inventor and/or Woodwork for Inventor and Microsoft products.
- Understanding of millwork, various construction materials, fixtures, wall system products and custom case goods.
- Ability to read and interpret commercial architectural drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Understanding design and techniques for metal fabrication is a plus.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with CNC machining is a plus.
Location: Remote, but within driving distance to North Canton, OH (4 hours) and/or direct flights available to the Canton-Akron airport.
Notes:
1) Initial training to be conducted both remote and on site in North Canton, OH.
2) Required to be on site in North Canton, OH for 1-2 weeks every three months.
