Sr. Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for providing Mechanical Engineering support to the TRISO-X fuel production facility, from research and development to system design, installation, testing and maintenance. This will include contributing to the design, assembly, testing, and maintenance of processing equipment and advancing the design and licensing of the TRISO-X Facility.

Responsibilities:

• Mechanical designs for process systems and facility systems (structural, electro-mechanical, automation, and robotics).
• Support Facility design team as needed.
• Create and document engineering designs (specifications, PIDs, ISO drawings).
• Select and order parts (motors, drives, sensors, valves, etc.) for process systems.
• Assemble parts to build prototype design.
• Operate processing equipment to perform design verification and validation.
• Mechanical engineering activities to support fuel manufacturing (reliability, maintenance, process improvement, failure analysis, etc.).
• Development of standard operating procedures.
• Development of maintenance plans for process equipment and support systems.

Minimum Education/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related fields.
• Minimum of 4 years of mechanical engineering work experience is required.
• Experience in industrial machine design is a plus.
• Must be willing to work with hazardous materials such as uranium.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in design and assembly of chemical processing equipment or related systems.
• Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (AutoCAD preferred).
• Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing facility design and approaches to lean manufacturing.
