Overview

MSA has an opportunity for an Operations Leader, a key leadership position responsible for the overall project delivery and outcomes within Public Works - West.

 

MSA is open to candidates from any of our 17 office locations, with the majority of time focused on leading Public Works staff in Baraboo, WI. Periodic travel between other MSA offices will be required on an as needed basis.

 

In addition to driving project delivery and shaping meaningful outcomes, the Operations Leader also serves as a dynamic leader who inspires, mentors, and manages a high-performing group of Team Leaders, empowering them to excel in their roles. This position has an opportunity to serve as the face of MSA internally as well as with clients, agencies, and industry connections relative to Public Works - West operations.

Responsibilities

The work you may do

  • Responsible for the overall project delivery and outcomes within Public Works - West
  • Provide mentorship to the Team Leaders and Project Managers within Public Works - West
  • Lead resource management, including scheduling, planning, execution, and scope setting
  • Assist with hiring and retention efforts supporting Public Works - West
  • Review all proposals and contracts in accordance with MSA policies
  • May manage projects as needed
  • Support Service Line Leader in development of business strategies and plans, including collaboration for the annual financial plan
  • Responsible for knowing and communicating to employees the standards, capabilities, and resources at MSA
  • Travel to other MSA offices, trade shows, and industry conferences is expected approximately 20-50% of the time, some overnight travel is expected

Qualifications

What you bringSkills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field is required
  • Valid drivers license required
  • PE license strongly preferred 
  • 10 years of experience in consulting engineering required
  • 10 years of managing direct reports required
  • Prior experience managing municipal engineering projects required
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) required
  • This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. MSA will not provide sponsorship for this position

  • Short Term Incentive (STIP) – This program rewards employees who meet performance goals with a one-time annual STIP payment as a percentage of their eligible compensation — recognition of individual accomplishments and achieving organizational goals. STIP payments are awarded if MSA reaches its corporate financial plan for the year.
