Rotational Program Overview

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to participate in our Engineering Rotation Program. This program has a targeted length of two years, over which time participants will complete rotations in two to three (2-3) different New Product Development (NPD) groups and support groups. The Electrical Engineer will join MSA Electrical Engineering department after completing the Engineering Rotation Program.

Responsibilities

This role has the following responsibilities:

  • Apply basic knowledge of electronic circuit design.
  • Participate on cross-functional project teams in the development of new MSA products.
  • Work with customers, both internal and external, to determine product design requirements.
  • Determine necessary product design to conform to customer needs.
  • Complete risk analyses, design calculations, FMEA's and design reviews, to verify that design meets or exceeds product specifications.
  • Develop an effective test plan, coordinate efforts to test the design, and utilize statistical methods to verify performance.
  • Integrate electronic designs with software, mechanical, test and manufacturing capabilities in order to ensure successful products are delivered on time while meeting agreed upon product performance specifications.
  • Investigate and provide data-backed decisions on non-conforming components
  • Investigate and provide engineering evaluations of customer product inquiries
  • Provide concise technical reports to support investigations and technical judgments
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically up to 10%


Qualifications

This position will be responsible for electronic hardware design and will use and/or demonstrate skills in the areas noted below:

  • Analog and digital circuit board design and layout
  • Use of simulation and design development tools (LabView, PSpice, Altium 365, Altium Designer, Ansys)
  • Use of statistical tools and risk analysis (i.e. DFSS, FMEA)
  • Creative problem solving and a customer-based perspective
  • Solid written, presentation and verbal skills

Education Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.

This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:

  • Level one: 1-2 years relevant experience
  • Level two: 3-5 years relevant experience
  • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Basic knowledge of embedded software
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
