SUMMARY

Entry-level professional position for employees with educational preparation and possible work experience in accounting, financial statement preparation, and auditing. This position examines and analyzes accounting records to determine financial status of organizations and prepare financial reports concerning operating procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stay current with the laws and rulings through reading literature and attending courses.
  • Identify exposure areas in the engagement that need to be addressed.
  • Ensure that engagement work is completed within predetermined time budgets and plan.
  • Obtain sufficient relevant data to afford a reasonable basis for conclusions or recommendations in relation to all services.
  • Review data regarding material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, and expenditures.
  • Inspect items in books of original entry to determine if accepted accounting procedure was followed in recording transactions.
  • Count cash on hand, inspect notes receivable and payable, negotiable securities, and canceled checks.
  • Verify journal and ledger entries of cash and check payments, purchases, expenses, and trial balances by examining and authenticating inventory items.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in accounting from a four-year college or university, enrollment in a fifth-year university program degree or a Master’s degree (M.S.), plus zero to two-plus years of relevant experience.

Practice Area Experience Preferred:

  • Governmental (State University & Colleges, School Districts, Counties, Healthcare Districts, Housing Finance Authorities, Municipalities, State Agencies, Transportation Authorities, and Utility Authorities
  • Healthcare (Long-term care, Senior housing, Hospitals & health systems, Physician practices, and Community-based healthcare)
  • High Tech
  • Manufacturing
  • Professional services, and/or
  • Tourism and Hospitality

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

State of Florida CPA is preferred

State of Florida Driver’s License

Proof of auto insurance

Pay: $51,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
