Field Installation Technician
MSS, Inc. is a Nashville, TN based manufacturing company that has been designing, manufacturing, installing and maintaining sensor based and optical sorting equipment for over four decades. MSS provides the recycling and resource recovery industries with state of the art material identification and recovery equipment.
MSS is seeking to add Field Service Technicians to our Service Department to accommodate the increasing demand for our automated material sorting and recovery equipment. The Service Department provides support to our expanding worldwide customer base. As a member of the MSS Service team, you will provide after-sale support including but not limited to installation supervision; start-up and commissioning; operational, maintenance and safety training and ongoing service support for our complete line of sensor-based, AI and robotic sorting equipment
The Field Installation Technician’s primary responsibilities will be the assembly and setup of the equipment for a customer project. This will include coordinating with the Service Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors and customer the installation of the machinery and equipment in the customer facility. The installation will include testing and adjusting or recommendations to bring the equipment to an operating state.
Complete tasks related to the installation, power up and setup of the equipment and software. This position will install machine components, route and terminate pneumatic lines, route and terminate flexible electrical conduits and the related wiring/cabling
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, repair and startup / setup for our primary line of senor-based sorting equipment
- Install machine subassemblies or components, route and terminate pneumatic lines, route and terminate flexible electrical conduits and terminate the related wiring/cabling for primary line of sensor-based sorting equipment.
- Mechanical alignment and assembly of components using common hand and power tools
- Routing, securing and terminating point to point wiring in a neat and controlled manner
- Onsite service/maintenance/PM visits that include cleaning and maintaining equipment.
- Pre-shipment testing and quality control of manufactured equipment. Follow company and ETL procedure to complete QC process.
- Identify and fill required spare parts support to customers.
- Establish excellent relationships and communication with customers
- Produce timely and detailed service / PM trip reports, expense reports and other required company documentation
- Support Production team when required
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Required Qualifications:
- 2 years of hands on experience in related duties and responsibilities
- Retains and comprehends information in order to receive and follow instructions.
- Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities.
- Good communication skills; ability to communicate with co-workers, management, customers and subcontractors.
- The use of hand tools, power tools, meters and gauges.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematic drawings.
- Ability to work under time constraints
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits and equipment (diagnostic tools)
- Basic understanding mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- General PC knowledge with abilities to make minor repairs.
- Prior ERP experience
- Bi-lingual English – Spanish
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to obtain Passport
Work Conditions:
- Must be willing to work in an indoor and outdoor environment.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules while on-site at customer facilities.
- Ability to work overtime or weekends as needed
- Use of hands for operating hand tools; pulling cables, conduit and hoses; typing and writing
- Ability to work in tight spaces at times
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
- The company will supply all required tools and test equipment
Travel
The Service Technician I position requires airplane and vehicle travel to job sites which will include weekends and multiple-week trips ranging from 3 – 12 days in duration. Estimated work time out of the office; 30 - 40%. Travel throughout North America with some International travel required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
