Building Technician
Overview: To provide ongoing technical support for teachers and students using computers and related technology
Qualifications:
Two years of computer related experience
Demonstrated field experience working with end-user technical support in a responsive, helpful, courteous, and tactful manner leading to timely and appropriate problem resolution or escalation
Experience working with children preferred
Wide range of computer hardware and software experience in a networked environment and a willingness to learn new and emerging technologies as they are introduced to the school
Demonstrated knowledge and field experience with basic applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
Demonstrated ability to work with students on a variety of technology tools; including: productivity suites, learning applications, and web-based software
Demonstrated field experience working with confidential and time-sensitive matters
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated organizational skills, with attention to detail
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations requiring decision-making
Functions and Responsibilities:
Follow all rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school/technology issues.
Ensure computer and related equipment in the school is working properly; arrange for needed maintenance
Troubleshoot problems with computers and other equipment; assist users with full utilization of available hardware and software.
Install workstations, laptops, printers, and peripherals, preparing them for use
Install, test and troubleshoot software applications (instructional and administrative), being conscious of software requirements, license restrictions, and end- user need
Work with other tech staff to manage and maintain building wiring closets, including cleanliness, labeling, and cable management
Work with tech staff to maintain optimal network performance and security.
Maintain personal and professional technology skills, keeping current with industry trends and bringing that knowledge forward for the good of the organization
Help manage and coordinate online testing
Manage and maintain accurate building technology inventory records and counts
Promote a positive and professional image of the District at all times
Participate in meetings as required, offering insight and direction to people's use of technology as it relates to the District's Information Literacy and Technology Plan
Cooperate and coordinate with other members of the technology program
Proficient in the use of Office software/ Google applications and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
Flexible work hours
Perform other related duties as may be requested by the Director of Technology, Principal or the Superintendent.
