Registered Nurse
JOB SUMMARY
- The Registered Nurse is a competent registered professional nurse who utilizes the nursing process to ensure high quality patient care to the patient population served according to the Plan for the Provision of Nurse Care and Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
- Coordinates care with the interdisciplinary team members to reach patient goals/outcomes.
- Utilizes the Nursing process to provide high quality patient care to the population served
- Complies with all policies and procedures in providing patient care, and coordinates nursing care for a designated group of patients.
- Participates in activities for continuing education, professional development, and staff development such as precepting new employees and serving on Nursing or unit committees.
- Participates in unit level performance improvement activities.
- Functions with a focus on patient safety and customer service.
- May with appropriate competencies and at least 2 years of recent pediatric nursing experience serve as an escort for transport according to policy.
- With approximately 1 year of experience may also serve as Charge Nurse and precept new employees.
- Assessment, planning, implementing, evaluation, customer service, patient advocacy, delegation, effective communication, teambuilding.

- Graduate of a NLN accredited school of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

- Current license to practice in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse. Current CPR. PEARS recommended. Applicable Nursing Certification preferred.

- Sound knowledge and ability to perform duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of Practice and Performance.

- Experience with pediatric rehabilitation, psychiatry, neurobehavioral/developmentally/emotionally impaired patients, or in a nursery, neonatal or pediatric intensive care as applicable, is preferred.

- No direct line supervision. Coaches and provides clinical direction and guidance Licensed Practical Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Restorative Assistants
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Directly interfaces daily with patients, visitors, and families, other health care team and health system staff.
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED
- Operates patient care equipment and utilizes computers
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regular or continuous risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne diseases requiring the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to established protocol. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. Occasional stress due to emergency situations or multiple demands.
