CLASSIFICATION: ADMINISTRATIVE
GRADE LEVEL: ONE - FOUR
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Transportation Service Facilitator is responsible for the smooth daily operation of safe, on-time fixed route transportation service by ensuring that all work assignments have a driver and a vehicle. They promote safe, timely, professional and courteous service delivery by monitoring operator adherence to MTA rules and procedures as well as providing support for operators on the road.
SUPERVISION BY: MANAGER OF FIXED ROUTE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check operator credentials to ensure licensing requirements are met
- Check absence notification voice recorder daily and respond to absences by assigning operators to unfilled runs
- Ensure that operators have an assigned vehicle or a replacement vehicle
- Approve any variation in pay times as a result of time changes during assigned run
- Inform and monitor operators on management requirements as well as MTA operating rules and procedures
- Recommend discipline of operators to Director based on absenteeism record, tardiness, behavior considered unprofessional, and other rule violations
- Monitor radio transmissions from operators
- Operate complex communications equipment according to FCC and MTA rules and regulation
- Monitor and respond to phone calls as necessary
- Receive equipment failure reports from operators
- Conduct on-the-spot analysis of equipment failure reports from operators; makes decision whether operator continues his/her run; directs the operator to bring bus in and replaces same; or refer problem to Maintenance
- Complete records on vehicle pull-offs
- Insure proper and fair distribution of work assignments and equitable distribution of unscheduled overtime
- Respond to inquiries regarding service in a professional, cordial manner
- Maintain run guide files
- Act independently when required by events and/or circumstances
- Make management decisions in absence of Director, such as rerouting vehicles, respond to emergencies, accident reporting and first response, and other critical matters
- Assist with data collection and reporting relative to department operations
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of concerns and complaints
- Develop project reports
- Perform other duties, as assigned

- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Understanding of bus operations
- Ability to function successfully in a Team environment.
- Ability to analyze complex reports and information and utilize same effectively
- Capable of working effectively in stressful situations
- Knowledge of the geographic area of Genesee County
- Well developed problem solving skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in the Transportation field

$43,834-$48,382
