SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Network Administrator role provides technical and administrative support for all local area networks, wide area networks, wireless networking environments, and all connected devices The position is responsible for maintaining complete knowledge of existing hardware and software used to maximize the efficiency of the MTA network landscape users’ utilization and provides detailed reporting evaluating network information and usage on a periodic basis.
SUPERVISION BY: MANAGER OF TECHNICAL SERVICES
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, leads, and actions activities required in computer systems network design, connectivity, and implementation.
- Plan, implement and maintain network

- Able to perform root-cause-analysis and resolution for issues within the MTA networking
- Implement comprehensive network monitoring, reporting, and alerting products to monitor network performance and maintain performance metrics and KPIs.
- Maintains MTA firewall configurations and
- Analyzes networks to ensure effectiveness and
- Maintains redundant networking systems to minimize downtime and improve efficiency and
- Reviews connectivity requests to determine requirements for installation or
- Confers with team members to determine information needs to establish project priority and to assist with resolution of computer networking problems.
- Designs layouts for implementing new projects or
- Develops measures of productivity and maintains records of time spent involving network on special projects.
- Develops policies and procedures related to the implementation and utilization of the MTA network, including access to outside resources such as the Internet.
- Troubleshoot network problems or systems failure involving hardware and software to determine the causes and possible solutions.
- Implement solutions to resolve problems or notify the Manager of Technical Services of solutions requiring resources not currently available without other approval.
- Establishes documentation standards for networking to ensure network performance and ease of utilization.
- Develops bid specifications for the purchase of hardware or software used in systems network development processes.
- Prepares monthly activity reports for the Manager of Technical Services regarding activities, system problems and utilization.
- Provides technical support to all level 1, 2, and 3 support teams involving networking
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, technical information with a wide variety of audiences.
- Design, analyze and implement networking equipment and design cost-effective system configurations to meet the needs of the user.
- Manage all IP numbering schemes and keep consistent and comprehensive
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, vendors, and
- Maintain an adequate level of knowledge of operating systems and application software used to provide high levels of support.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required Skills and/or Experience.
- An associate degree (2-years) in a technical field including computer systems and network Bachelors Preferred.
- Five years of experience in a large local area network environment designing and analyzing networking systems.
- Three years of experience in a Microsoft networking
- Three years of experience in network monitoring and performance management
- Experience in management of fiber optic networking
- Experience in broadband wireless networking
- Experience in Wi-Fi connectivity including access points and
- Experience in establishing mobility connectivity with smart phones and
- Experience in procuring, installing, and maintaining network core devices such as routers, switches, bridges, and hubs to include Cisco products.
- Network cabling skills; both copper and
- Knowledge of the principles of data communications and telecommunications to include industry standards.
- Knowledge of local area network concepts and
- Knowledge of BICSI standards for information and communication
- Knowledge of tele-processing and telecommunication
- Knowledge of Linux and/or UNIX operating
- Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office
- Strong negotiation
- Industry-standard technical certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, ITIL or PMP preferred.
- IT experience within a Transportation/Manufacturing preferred

Salary Range: $70,106 - 77,393
