Associate Design Engineer - CAD

Job Functions:

Job Summary
Job Functions (Essential)
  1. Provide support for the development of Block Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Ladder Diagrams, IO Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Network Diagrams, Cable Schedules, 2D Plan Views, 3D Layouts, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) which meet direct client objectives on paralleled power system projects.
  2. Provide technical support to assist engineers and sales managers on new project opportunities.
  3. Support team members with knowledge base on CAD designs for data center projects, microgrids and BESS solutions.
  4. Assist in formalizing communications and discrete wiring interconnection designs to interface between MTU hardware (ECU's, control panels, PLC's)
  5. Assist with balancing the plant systems such as switchgear, relays, PMS/BMS networks, and power distribution systems
  6. Assist with the implementation of pen tables/plot style standards & implementation to support in project development and efficiency of design reviews.
  7. Provide support to the team within project management to support on best design strategies for special customer applications or recommended modifications to existing RR/MTU designs.
  8. Edit and review existing RR/MTU CAD designs as necessary.
  9. Provide knowledge within the team for technical growth for other colleagues
  10. Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices.
  11. Promotes a compliance culture in areas of responsibility and lives the letter & spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.
  12. Performs special projects as required.

Qualifications:

Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Required:
  1. Bachelor's degree in CAD Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering; or 4 years of electrical, automation, or electronics engineering experience.
  2. Good knowledge of CAD tools; such as AutoCAD, Revit, BricsCAD, Creo, or SOLIDWORKS.
  3. Good knowledge of electrical power systems using gas and diesel fueled gensets for continuous, standby and mission critical applications including subsystems such as switchgear, transformer stations / substations.
  4. Good project management skills.
  5. Good organization, planning and follow-up skills.
  6. Good oral and written communication skills.
  7. Entrepreneurial mindset.
  8. Ability to turn conceptual ideas into formalized designs.
  9. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, line diagrams, ladder diagrams, point to point diagrams and shop drawings.
  10. Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
  11. Ability to read and interpret general procedures and speak fluent English.
  12. Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with multiple cultures and client types.
  13. Ability and willingness to travel for business trips (30%).
  14. Good Computer Skills: MS Office 365 products, ERP systems (SAP or JDE), and Bluebeam Revu.
