Job Overview:
Coordinates activities involved with procuring indirect goods and services such as equipment, tools, parts, supplies, for the organization by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Reviews total Mubea NA indirect needs by commodity or service, summarizes requirements, establishes bid package, distributes RFQ, and negotiates Mubea NA contracts with the result of savings and reduced inventory levels thru volume/supplier consolidation.
- Reviews requisitions and initiates purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Negotiates with vendors to obtain best product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
- Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
- Manages the purchasing of indirect materials, equipment, services, and supplies for the company.
- Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
- Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Approves invoices for payment, when necessary.
- Expedites delivery of goods to users, when necessary.
- Participates in Supplier Surveys.
- Updates and creates company contracts and negotiations.
- Supports receiving department personnel when required.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Lotus Notes; Internet software and Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word Processing software. Proficient experience with AS-400 is required.
- Requires 10 to 20% travel, some international.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- A master’s degree in related field
- SAP experience
- Experience working in a Germany based (international) organization
- Bilingual German/Spanish a plus
