JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Muckleshoot Elders In-Home Support Services (MEIHSS) program, working directly with the Director, staff, vendors, and medical and social work professionals. Also, working with the MEIHSS leadership team to ensure operational objectives are established and being met so that the scope of services offered provides the highest level of care to enhance the quality of life for clients effectively and efficiently.

 

Starting October 15, 2021:

As part of the Tribe’s continuing efforts to prioritize the health and wellbeing of its employees and those the Tribe serves, the Tribe will require that the individual who fills this role be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless medically unable to receive any COVID-19 vaccine.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish relationships with other community agencies to prevent duplicating services.
  • Prepare and maintain records, reports, and budgets.
  • Assign duties to and supervise staff or volunteers.
  • Observe workers to evaluate performance and ensure work meets standards.
  • Assist in planning program budgets.
  • Consult with individuals and committees to determine needs. Plan and set up agency programs.
  • Review regulations or rule changes. Determine how agency could be impacted by changes.
  • Research and analyze community needs.
  • Determine agency policies and define the scope of services.
  • Speak to community groups to explain agency purpose, programs, and policies.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire agency staff or volunteers.
  • Represent organizations to the government and media.
  • Instruct and train staff or volunteers in skills required to provide services.
  • Plan and direct fundraising activities.
  • Advise volunteers on how to improve their skills.
  • Participate in program activities to serve agency clients.
  • The Assistant Director will ensure:
  • Supervision of all client care provided by personnel;
  • Evaluation of services provided by contractors;
  • Participation in coordination of service when more than one licensee is providing care to the client;
  • Compliance with the plan of care;
  • All direct care personnel, contractors, and volunteers observe and recognize changes in the client’s needs, and report any changes to the Administrator or designee;
  • All direct care personnel, contractors, and volunteers initiate emergency procedures according to policy;
  • Ensures and maintains HIPAA compliance.
  • Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
  • EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in social science, human services, health administration, geriatrics or related field.
    • Five (5) years of clinical/case management experience.

    • Must maintain valid Washington State Driver’s License, own transportation and valid insurance coverage. Experience working with Elders and within a native community.

     

    Special Requirements: Must pass a criminal background check, a drug screen and meet all health and immunization requirements.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

    Skill in: Effectively interacting with a diverse group of people; communicating effectively verbally and in writing; using logic and reasoning; problem-solving; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; using standard office equipment and personal computer, including pertinent software applications; time management; conflict resolution.

     

    Knowledge of: Utilization review, quality assurance and managed health care concepts; clinical or client assessment; elder care and home care practices; HIPAA compliance; the English language including composition and grammar; budget management; human behavior; Native American culture and history.

     

    Ability to: Maintain confidentiality; maintain a positive attitude and work ethic; effectively communicate information and ideas, both written and verbal; comprehend information, both written and verbal; form culturally competent, non-judgmental, supportive and empowering relationships with culturally diverse individuals; gather and interpret data, reach logical conclusions, and present findings and recommendations; use independent judgment; work independently; work cooperatively as a member of a team and in a professional manner; organize and coordinate schedules; work effectively within a high stress environment.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class.

    The employee is continuously required to sit, talk, hear and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to drive a motor vehicle. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, bend at the waist, kneel, grasp objects with the fingers, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally push/pull up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
