Overview
Purchase, install, support, and maintain technology equipment as well as provide general end-user support.
Responsibilities
- Service and maintain technology equipment, such as desktop computers, laptops, thin clients, printers, and telephones.
- Respond to incoming calls, service desk tickets, email, or chats regarding equipment needs as well as general support needs.
- Record and manage equipment sent to repair depots for equipment under warranty or service contracts.
- Manage proper and secure equipment disposal and/or recycling.
- Recommend and perform technology equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Conduct research on end-user technologies in support of standardization and procurement efforts. Evaluate and recommend products for purchase.
- Update support tickets, log all calls and properly categorize issues to ensure that Help Desk requests are properly documented.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field is preferred.
- Education and/or training in information technology is essential.
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience with computer hardware and software and telecommunications equipment is required.
- Must be PC proficient and have a good understanding of Microsoft Office products, e-mail and Internet use.
- Ability to provide technical support to system users and to communicate effectively in doing so.
- Combination of education & experience may be qualifying.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting pay rate $15.75 - $18.00 an hour depending on qualifications.
- Generous employer paid benefits valued at $5 to $10 an hour.
