What are the responsibilities and job description for the Comptroller position at Mueller Refrigeration?
Mueller Refrigeration has an immediate opening for a full-time or part-time Comptroller. Remote work may be an option at times. This position has responsibilities that directly relate to activities within the division, as well as coordination and cross-functional responsibilities that relate to corporate activities and other divisional interactions. The candidate must have a background in manufacturing, and understand and report on issues relating to material usage, variances relating to material and labor standards, labor and overhead calculations and reporting, scrap losses and inventory analysis. Understanding of standard and variable cost analysis, monthly budgeting process and annual budget preparation for a manufacturing operation. Interact with corporate accounting and other company locations to evaluate intercompany charges and coordinate activities to assure compliance with corporate audits and regulations.
Accountabilities:
- Prepare month end journal entries.
- Provide monthly reports that include CapEx, Financial reports, FFO reporting, PPE reports and Balance sheet explanations.
- Reconcile monthly: sales, COGS, AP/AR, inventory perpetual to GL and inventory rolls, and FG inventory cycle counts
- Maintain costs standards for materials, labor and overhead calculations and incorporate into monthly reporting of the divisional P&L statement
- Understand individual charges and entries on P&L that relate to direct and indirect labor costs, material costs, repair and maintenance costs and general and administrative costs.
- Knowledge in the use of accruals for future expected charges and depreciation as it relates to capital purchases
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance along with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, be highly organized and detail oriented, have experience with ERP systems (QAD and Hyperion preferred), proficiency in MS Excel (V-Lookup, Pivot tables) with intermediate skills in MS Access.
