Controller - Full Time
The Controller is responsible for the overall accounting office operations, including compliance with all corporate accounting policies and procedures, timely and accurate processing and reporting of all accounting information, compliance with government regulations and filing requirements, maintenance of strong system of internal controls, and training and development of accounting office personnel. This individual should be an active partner with the General Manager and Chief Financial Officer.
- Prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and within each manufacturer's format and time frame. Ensures that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate.
- Supervise the control of all daily cash accounts.
- Review the general ledger and all scheduled accounts for proper reconciliation including but not limited to cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and floor plan per corporate accounting standards.
- Participates in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
- Interprets the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs dealer of developing trends.
- Account for and verify assets including vehicle inventory, parts inventory, and information technology assets.
- Recruit, supervise and develop dealership office personnel.
- Establish and maintain a strong internal control structure including appropriate segregation of duties in the accounting department
- Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, property tax, sales tax filings, etc.
- Provide department managers with detailed financial and departmental management reports.
- Stays abreast of tax code revisions and advises dealer regarding any operational adjustments needed to
accommodate revisions.
- Coordinates annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
- Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.
What are we looking for?
- Franchise retail automotive dealership Controller experience, MINIMUM 5 YEARS
- Bachelor's degree, CPA or equivalent.
- Proficiency in CDK DMS Software & Microsoft Office applications (Required)
- Strong leadership and time management skills.
