Description
General Purpose of the Position:
Janitors are responsible for collection of waste materials and daily cleaning of production areas and employee areas. Support production needs to meet customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow proper OSHA standards and is trained in lock out/tag out, confined spaces, hazard communications, hazardous waste, and fire training. Follow all plant safety rules; understands and follows ISO procedures and GMP personnel practices and guidelines.
- Efficiently operate the following equipment to meet daily/weekly/monthly/annual cleaning scheduled procedures: Waste Bailers/Waste Compactors/Floor Sweeper/Lift truck or hand truck and charging equipment following safety procedures.
- Clean employee bathrooms, lockers rooms, and break rooms on a daily or regular schedule as directed. Includes cleaning of microwave, tables, counters, empty trash, and sweep and mop all areas. Stock all paper products in designated areas on daily basis.
- Clean Intakes in dropped ceilings in employee bathrooms and break room as needed.
- Follow all Secure Waste Procedures as required by customer.
- Check and empty all bailers in production areas as required.
- Check and empty all hopers in production areas periodically throughout shifts.
- Check front office bathrooms, kitchen area, and conference rooms daily. Empty paper shredder in mail room daily or as needed.
- Wipe down safety railings located throughout the plant monthly.
- Mop all red safety areas and white perimeters as directed or needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to safety and properly use a fork lift and hand truck for moving materials and pallets.
- Inventory and order cleaning supplies/paper supplies/condiments as needed.
- Train other janitors and perform all other tasks or duties as assigned by company supervisor or manager.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to operate lift/fork trucks, hand trucks, compactors, and bailers and any other equipment designed for maneuvering materials through production facility.
- Reading and writing comprehension as well as basic mathematics.
- Attention to details and ability to work under the pressure of deadlines.
- Ability to adhere to schedules production/job/shipping.
- Skill in lifting heavy packages and objects.
- Skill in operating forklift or other materials handling equipment in tight congested areas.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:
Basic computer skills to operate a computer to obtain customer job specifications/ISO procedures for processing and converting of material labels.
Physical Effort:
Work requires exerting up to 10 lbs of force constantly, and/or up to 40 lbs of force frequently, and/or 80 lbs. of force occasionally to move/lift objects vertically and/or horizontally. Work requires employees to stand/walk continuously, reach and bend to load, unload and package products.
Working Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in rotogravure press production areas; including permanent enclosures. In accordance with our safety program, all employees receive information training on required PPE equipment, chemicals, and equipment used within the press enclosures and plant. Atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, etc.
- Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two years of demonstrated work experience preferred.
