SUMMARY

The Regional President & CEO (Regional President) will be an influential leader with a system view whose inspirational approach and tenacity will drive change. The Regional President will align people and organizational entities around the priorities and forward-looking vision to enable MHC to thrive in the evolving healthcare landscape.

The Regional President has overall responsibility for developing and maintaining a regional strategic plan in alignment with the Munson Healthcare strategic plan inclusive of revisioning the rural regional delivery of care in the context of external competitive forces and value based care; development and oversight of operating budgets and capital budgets/investments; development and analysis of program growth and business development; integration of operations within the region and in alignment with the Munson Healthcare system and overall operating performance.

 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Master’s Degree in Business/Hospital Administration, or in a closely related field.

At least ten years of experience in healthcare administration; five years in a senior leadership role.

Demonstrated effectiveness in communication at all levels, i.e. providers, employees, Board, community, leadership

Demonstrated understanding of the healthcare industry/financing and rural healthcare reimbursement

Demonstrated ability to operate successfully in a constantly changing, fast-pace environment

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and strategically within a system/matrixed structure

Demonstrated ability to set strategy and drive results

Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, i.e. written and verbal communication, listening skills, consensus building, ability to relate at all levels within the organization; demonstrated ability to interact with physicians/other professionals and manage effectively with a wide variety of situations, cultures and settings, strong collaboration skills, effective team player

Experience and understanding of working in data-driven, Lean culture

Demonstrated behaviors that are consistent with Munson values and leadership principles

ORGANIZATION

The Regional President reports to the Munson Healthcare Chief Operating Officer.

The top hospital administrators in the region report to the Regional President.

The Regional President serves on the Hospital President’s Council, other key system leadership & operational committees and has a close working relationship with all top Community Hospital and Physician Network administrators.

The Regional President leads the regional Senior Leadership Team.

 SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. Supports the mission, vision, values and principles of Munson Healthcare.

2. Embraces and supports the Munson Alignment framework.

3. This position is responsible for the region’s achievement of organizational goals, implementation of strategic initiatives and effective leadership of day-today operations.

4. Provides the leadership and vision for the Region that advances True North performance and MHC strategic goals.  Accountable for planning, organizing and directing regional hospital operations to ensure that quality care is provided and True North goals are achieved. 

5. Is an advisor to the MHC Chief Operating Officer in key decisions affecting community hospitals. 

6. Serves as a thought leader to revision the role of the rural, community hospital in the current and future healthcare environment, including evaluating the consolidation of services based on changing market dynamics.

7. Partners with senior leaders and Service Line Executive Directors to identify growth opportunities and assure financial targets are met.

8. Engages with local communities, in collaboration with the Foundation and Community Hospital Presidents/Administrators, to build community support for MHC fund-raising efforts.

9. Collaborates with Service Line Executive leadership, Community Presidents and Chief Medical Officers to support service line growth and performance.   

10. Maintains effective and collaborative relationships with the regional medical staffs that inspire loyalty, ensure the ability to meet the health needs of the community and advance quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction.

11. Oversees the activities of the regional hospitals to assure compliance with the standards of the Joint Commission and all regulatory bodies.

12. Facilitates communication between governance, the Medical Staff and departments of the hospital.  

13. Ensures that the regional hospitals are appropriately represented in the community; and are actively involved in civic activities.

14. Takes personal responsibility for the operation, measurement, assessment and improvement of the regional hospitals’ performance in collaboration with entity and Provider Network leadership teams.

15. Provides leadership and oversight of operations for the regional hospitals, with an emphasis on clinical and operational excellence for acute care, patient safety, patient-centered care, team building, performance improvement and strong financial results while constantly demonstrating value to consumers and payers.

16. Works with Munson provider network leadership to support appropriate planning and operationalizing of identified priorities in alignment with hospital and ambulatory growth and operational performance goals. 

17. Leverages previous experience and ongoing counsel to build trust-based relationships with physicians, staff, community leaders and other healthcare representatives for the good of the region and MHC.

18. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
