Position Summary
The Salvation Army Northern Division Fargo’s Social Services Coordinator provides direct assistance to program participants. The Coordinator also recruits and provides a full range of case management services to Pathway of Hope (POH) participants. POH is responsible for providing targeted services to participants with a desire to break the cycle of crisis and enable a path out of intergenerational poverty.
Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
- Provide participants with direct assistance (e.g., foodshelf, Heatshare, vouchers) (30%).
- Conduct long-term strength-based, person-centered, holistic case management to POH participants (30%).
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information in casefiles and through database entry (15%).
- Facilitate individual and group educational activities (10%).
- Assist with seasonal and special events (5%).
- Recruit qualifying participants for POH and promote social services and corps programs with participants and throughout the community (5%).
- Engage in internal activities to promote and further POH goals and objectives (5%).
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in relevant field preferred. In lieu of degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- If degree is in social work, must be licensed by state board.
- Previous social services experience required.
- Must pass background checks.
- Valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements preferred.

- Standard business hours with infrequent evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Travel Requirements
May occasionally drive agency vehicle locally to support the mission if MVR check cleared. May be required to use public transportation to support the mission if unable to drive on behalf of The Salvation Army.
