Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for monitoring sensor equipment, assisting faculty and student researchers with field equipment and maintaining all field equipment.
- Oversight of monitoring and other cruises associated with HBS/WSI research including maintenance of boats and monitoring/sensor equipment.
- Maintenance of field equipment, repair and fabrication of equipment where needed.
- General assistance in the daily operations of the HBS/WSI.
- Provide assistance and guidance to all faculty and student researchers in the use of field equipment including participation in field research efforts as required.
- Function as a resource for faculty, staff, and students for the enhancement of both the image and mission of the Hancock Biological Station (HBS), the Watershed Studies Institute (WSI) and the College of Science, Engineering and Technology at Murray State University.
- Work under the supervision of the Director of the HBS with a base of operation at the HBS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, or a closely related allied field.
- Must have a minimum of two years experience in environmental field research, fabrication skills, and boat maintenance.
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team is necessary.
- Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Must feel comfortable on the water and walking to off-road field research sites.
