Examples of Duties
Prepares library for use at beginning of school year by arranging books and furniture, designing and arranging book and bulletin board displays and labeling book shelves;
prepares periodicals, pamphlet and donated paperback books for circulation; mends and repairs books;
confers with principal and staff to establish schedule for library use; contacts, trains and directs parent and student volunteers in the performance of various duties in the library;
instructs students, either informally and/or by developing structured library skill lessons on the subject such as the use and care of library materials, card catalog, organization and rules of the library, the Dewey Decimal System and circulation procedures;
prepares and conducts book talks and story hours; assists students in location and selection of books for general reading and reference purposes; maintains student discipline in the library;
confers with teachers in the selection of library materials to support or supplement classroom instructional programs; compiles bibliographies;
checks materials in and out of the library; records and reports circulation figures; maintains card catalogs, online catalogs, and shelf lists; compiles textbook and instructional material orders and prepares requisitions;
receives, processes and distributes textbooks and related instructional materials;
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.65 - $22.35 per hour
