PAY RATE: $23/hour
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
Role Summary
The Bar Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all bar operations, including excellent and efficient customer service, and implementing and controlling cash handling, stock, purchasing, waste disposal and other important operations in a bar. The Bar Supervisor supervises the Bar Team, as well as evaluates their performances and participates in the hiring of new staff, as needed. Teamwork is a staple throughout our entire operation. The Bar Team works closely with other department’s staff to create an unforgettable experience for all museum visitors and event guests. Primary Job Responsibilities
Oversee the training and familiarization of new Bar Team members.
Plan, create, and administer new staff schedules.
Conduct regular Bar Team meetings to ensure effective communication, inclusion, and cohesion across the staff.
Develop sales targets and tasks, and communicate these with the Bar Team.
Monitor beverage stocks and bar supplies stocks daily or weekly, including price checks, inventories, and managing money, and inform Team Members about the unavailability of food and beverages, as needed.
Develop and carry out orders for supplies and cash-up procedures after shifts.
Develop, implement, and maintain bar operating procedures and systems to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Update Team Members about new laws related to the sale of alcohol in NY State.
Be a physical presence at the bar and ensure the highest standard of customer service.
Constantly work to improve the hygiene and food safety standards at the bar.
Facilitate internal communication, as needed, with critical support departments: Operations, HR, Administration, etc.
Maintain the ability to work nights and weekends and extended schedules during peak periods. Provide availability updates and changes when necessary.
Able to move from place to place which may include standing and/or walking for extended periods of time; lift and carry up to 75 pounds short distances.
Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High school diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or a vocational course in bartending.
Minimum Experience: Several years working at a food and beverage establishment, such as a cocktail lounge, restaurant, or bar where alcohol is served and the job entails managing staff.
NYC Food Handlers certification

The work environment is an indoor, climate-controlled public area of assembly. The noise level varies throughout the venue, some areas are very quiet while others contain reasonably high noise levels. There is ample lighting throughout the venue. There are no hazards and no protective devices worn or used in the office work environment.
